Have you ever wanted to hold a songbird in your hands? Here is your opportunity. Join Audubon Connecticut’s Bird Conservation Programs Manager Corrie Folsom-O’Keefe for a morning of bird banding at the charming Bent of the River Audubon Center. This exciting experience will begin by meeting Audubon staff at the Bent barn at 7:30 a.m. for a simple breakfast on the birding balcony, followed by a beautiful walk out to the bird banding station.
At the station, you will get to see up close some of the birds that call the Bent of the River home. From Blue-winged Warblers to Indigo Buntings, you will learn about these old field nesting birds, why we band them, and how this information influences the management of the sanctuary. Plus you may have the opportunity to hold a bird before it is released. We will be sure to get a picture!
