Enjoy a late spring hike through a mix of habitats such as woodlands, streams and meadows. We will begin our walk along the Pomperaug River to the Red Barn and bird balcony, stopping to view the many native birds that will be feeding there. Then it’s off to the River Road Trail where we will search for wood thrushes and scarlet tanagers along with lady slippers and other native wildflowers. Cedar hill Trail will take us through meadows that provide habitat for warblers and indigo buntings. We will pass by the barn once again on our way back to the parking area. This fun two-mile hike is mainly flat with some moderate with gentle hills, making it a great place for families with school-aged children as well as adults to explore.
